Here’s Everything We Know So Far About NYPD Shooting Suspect Ismaaiyl Abdullah Brinsley - Mediaite

Information is coming in slowly about the man suspected of shooting two NYPD officers today. Several reports say the NYPD has identified him as 28-year-old Ismaaiyl Abdullah Brinsley, and will confirm that and additional information about him at a press conference this evening.

The New York Daily News reported that Brinsley is a member of a Baltimore gang looking to exact vengeance for the deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner. He reportedly had shot his girlfriend in Baltimore just hours before. And CNN has confirmed, at the very least, that Brinsley had traveled to New York from Baltimore:

A 28-year-old Ismaaiyl Brinsley is in the database of Georgia arrests for carrying a concealed weapon and reckless behavior in 2011. Here’s the mugshot:

In addition, there have been several unconfirmed reports about a Facebook and Instagram page connected to Brinsley, neither of which include that name.

I was searching trying to find out something about the suspect when I found this at Mediaite. It's still not much, but I'm sure they'll update it as more information comes to light.

It's a freaking feeding frenzy for the haters on the Right at the moment. It's bad, really freaking insane bad, the way they're blaming everyone from Blasio and Holder to Obama for the shootings.

Statement Blames Mayor for Shootings
A statement purporting to be from the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, the biggest police union, blamed Mr. de Blasio for the shootings.

“The mayor’s hands are literally dripping with our blood because of his words, actions and policies,” read the statement, “and we have, for the first time in a number of years, become a ‘wartime’ police department. We will act accordingly.”

The statement instructed officers to forward it to colleagues, and it spread instantly through the department.

Brinsley, who was arrested on disorderly conduct charges in Georgia in 2005, also bragged about shooting his girlfriend. On his Instagram account, he posted a photo of army fatigues with apparent blood stains. “Never had a hot gun on your waist and blood on yoour shoe...N---a you ain’t been through what I been through you not like me and im not like you.”

Days earlier, Brinsley exhorted his Instagram followers to “Burn the Flag” in protest of the recent police killings of black men.

“Marching up and down the streets does little to nothing to bring awareness to serious matters,” he wrote. “So let’s ruffle some feathers and take it into our own hands and make them watch in horror as we burn what they represent

Here in Wisconsin we call guys like him a punk.

Yeah, REEEAAALLLL big man, shot his girlfriend and then ambushed two cops.

Then he takes the ultimate chickening out, shoots himself.
