I have no idea who Amy Adams is, but at 58 years of age, I'm desperately trying to keep up with the kids nowadays!

I'd check out Doubt among many others. She was very good in The Master which bored the hell out of me though the acting performances by the main cast were all excellent. I have yet to see American Hustle but I'm sure she had a role in helping the film capture so many Oscar nominations which she was nominated herself for Best Actress.

Though her role wasn't as showy as Jennifer Lawrence's it was still pretty nuanced.

And yes SNL is like that blind squirrel which finds the occasional acorn.
