Twas a Night!

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the House,
Tea’d lawmakers were scheming as quiet as a mouse.
Bills for equal pay, jobs, unemployment tucked in “NO!” votes with care
In hopes that by the Tea’d 2015 takeover, they will just disappear.
Gun, corporate, and radical right wing lobbyists nestled snug in their beds
While visions of controlling Congress danced in their heads.
McConnell, Boehner & Company caroling shut down and law suit raps
Had just settled down for a long two year nap.
When out on the White House lawn there arose such a clatter
They awoke from their 6 year coma to see what was the matter.
Away to their campaign coffers they flew like a flash
No tax increases for the wealthy, Tea’d lawmakers protect their stash.
The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow
Gave a luster of limbo to immigrants below.
When what to their wondering eyes did appear
But a non lame duck President who continues to care.
The greyed but not beaten driver was so lively and quick
Tea’d lawmakers were blinking -

This must be a trick!

More rapid than eagles executive orders and international agreements came
And he whistled and shouted and called them by name:

On China’s agreement to lower carbon emissions!
Now to a way to reform immigration conditions!
On additional security for border personnel!
On faster and easier ways to help graduates stay and do well
To the top of what’s doable! To the top of what’s legal!
Now impeach away! Sue Away! Shut down away all!

As leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So, up to the House and Senate Tea’d lawmakers flew
With a Grinch-filled bag of blocking, sabotaging and government shut down plans -

What else is knew?

And then in a twinkling, they heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each racist Tea’d spoof.
As they drew in their heads and turned around
Down the chimney Karma came with a bound.
Dressed all in FOX-manufactured fur from head to foot
Racist Obama characterizations tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of Presidential finger pointing for their refusal to govern -

No tact!

They all looked like peddlers just opening their packs
Their lies – how they twinkled! Their fake scandals, so merry!
Their filibusters like roses, thorns sticking Americans, how leery!
Their droll little mouths were drawn down row by row
And the absence of legislation on their records was as empty as snow.
The stump of their 2014 Midterm campaigns – ideas stuck in their teeth
Campaign smoke and mirror ads encircled their heads like a wreath.
They had broad, fake smiles and Koch-filled bellies
That shook when they deceived, like a bowl full of jelly.
And I laughed when I saw them, in spite of myself;
A wink of their eyes and a twist of their heads!!!!!

The Exorcist sequel! Hide! Under the sled!

They spoke not a word, but went straight to work,
Filling all their campaign stockings with wealth, then turned with a jerk.
And laying their finger aside their Pinocchio-sized nose
And giving a nod, towards the Do More of Nothing 2015 GOP Congress they rose!

The President sprang to his sleigh – to his team gave a whistle

More Americans are working
Unemployment is down
More Americans have health insurance
Despite Tea'd GOP frowns
Dependence on foreign oil is down
And gas prices too
Our deficits have shrunk
Bin Laden too
Businesses are creating more jobs since the 1990’s pace
Got China to sign on to join the cut carbon emissions race
Jump started Immigration Reform
Manufacturing has grown
And the Dems and I did it all on our own!

And away they all flew like the down of a thistle
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight –

Happy Christmas to all!
And to all a good night!
