because after today, the days will get a bit longer every day as we start to head out of the dark tunnel caused by winter plus standard time.

Milestones are having it still light at 6 PM and going back to DST, yippee!

And for my Wiccan friends, Blessed Be!

13. It is the REAL "Christmas" !

Don't get me wrong. I celebrate the Christmas holiday. BUT, the Christians co-opted Yule and other Solstice festivals from the northern Europeans because they wanted to capitalize on their popularity to promote Christianity. That is simply the fact. Yule logs, feasts, bonfires and candles, evergreens, etc. were all part of these pre-Christian festivals.

Jesus was most likely born in March at the time of the census taken in Bethlehem, the very purpose of his parents' journey there. The shepherds would not have been out during the colder rainy season in December.

So, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Solstice, Happy Kwanzaa, and Happy Holidays in this wonderful season of light, love, and life.
