Rap Video Under Fire For Encouraging Cop Killing

Bronx, New York (My9NJ) -
The rap video "Hands Up!" featuring rappers Maino and Uncle Murda has gone viral, but it's the videos message that has many people up in arms. The video basically encourages people to kill police officers in retribution to what happened to Michael Brown and Eric Garner. The video portrays the recurring image of an actor dressed as a police officer with two guns pointed at his head, and some of the lyrics even encourage that type of behavior.

"For Mike Brown and Sean Bell, a cop gotta be killed," the song says.

Rap lyrics are oftentimes anti-law enforcement, but many are enraged by the video actually encouraging people to go about shooting an officer.

When asked about the video's message, residents of one Bronx neighborhood were torn. "I don't agree with people in the streets saying they should shoot cops, there is still good cops out there," one man on the street commented. "If we were on the other side of the gun it would be a problem. I just feel like there's no justice involved," another added.

Those instances need to be addressed. Lately they've not been.

The proper remedy isn't advocating murdering the police (some protests have chanted "What do we want? Dead Cops!" in recent days). And now we have people on forums advocating, or at the very least minimizing, the murder of police officers.

This makes the situation better, not worse. More civilians will die because of this, as will more police.

myself, it appears to have originated on right wing sites and doesn't pass the smell test. Had it been one or two shouting that, or even up to 10 people, maybe. But hundreds of people aren't dumb or hateful enough to yell something like that, and only a racist would think it possible. Just like the reports of Katrina victims shooting at helicopters. Some people will believe anything. Smh

No alternate angles or closeups of their mouths. No different than the breathless reporting of protesters who threw urine at the police in MO. By the way, when did they have time to pee in the bottles? I'm sure that's on film too, right? Like I said, all common sense is suspended when it comes to reporting the actions of non-whites. Smh

From 1992 - by Body Count
"Cop Killer"

Cop killer, yeah!

I got my black shirt on
I got my black gloves on
I got my ski mask on
This shit's been too long
I got my twelve gauge sawed off
I got my headlights turned off
I'm 'bout to bust some shots off
I'm 'bout to dust some cops off

I'm a cop killer, better you than me
Cop killer, fuck police brutality!
Cop killer, I know your family's grieving
(Fuck 'em!)
Cop killer, but tonight we get even, ha ha

I got my brain on hype
Tonight'll be your night
I got this long-assed knife
And your neck looks just right
My adrenaline's pumpin'
I got my stereo bumpin'
I'm 'bout to kill me somethin'
A pig stopped me for nuthin'!

Cop killer, better you than me
Cop killer, fuck police brutality!
Cop killer, I know your momma's grieving
(Fuck her!)
Cop killer, but tonight we get even, yeah!

Die, die, die, pig, die!

Fuck the police!
Fuck the police!
Fuck the police!
Fuck the police!

Fuck the police!
Fuck the police!
Fuck the police!
Fuck the police!
Yeah!

Cop killer, better you than me.
I'm a COP KILLER, fuck police brutality!
Cop killer, I know your family's grieving
(Fuck 'em!)
Cop killer, but tonight we get even, ha ha ha ha, yeah!

Fuck the police!
Fuck the police!
Fuck the police!
Fuck the police!

Fuck the police!
Fuck the police!
Fuck the police!
Fuck the police!
Break it down

Fuck the police, yeah!
Fuck the police, for Darryl Gates
Fuck the police, for Rodney King
Fuck the police, for my dead homies
Fuck the police, for your freedom
Fuck the police, don't be a pussy
Fuck the police, have some muthafuckin' courage
Fuck the police, sing along

Cop killer!
Cop killer!
Cop killer!
Cop killer!

Cop killer! Whaddyou wanna be when you grow up?
Cop killer! Good choice
Cop killer! I'm a muthafuckin'
Cop killer!

Cop killer, better you than me
Cop killer, fuck police brutality!
Cop killer, I know your momma's grieving
(Fuck her!)
Cop killer, but tonight we get even!

He's an excellent actor in L&O-SVU

And he's a great advocate for cannabis, even though he doesn't smoke it himself.

He was an actual pimp too in his early days..

So he actually knows what he was talking about back then. Even with Cop Killer was controversial, but it didn't stop Ice-T from doing anything he wanted to do, and he made himself, and I have to give props to him.

I don't agree with the rap lyrics, but for law enforcement to pretend this song came out of the Void...is arrogance at it's finest. When you kill innocent people and face no charges - people get mad. It is the way the human brain works. See an injustice, get blamed for causing the injustice, get madder.

People are fed up and have ahead enough.

This song/video is a venting of anger, not unlike burning a cop car or other buildings. You can't judge or deny their anger.

That is a whole works away from killing anyone. You seem to be trying to connect an entire race and movement with the senseless killings of one deranged person.
