The right wing freaks think they can use this to bully people back into submission and shut them up about brutality. I think democrat politicians are going to stand their ground and not give into thugs.

But it is "Democratic" politicians. The use of "democrat" in this context is incorrect and a RW term.

I was thinking that when I read the police union's response - that they figured they were at war with African Americans and would respond in that way (don't remember the specific wording but it was troubling.) I know white people sometimes shoot police officers, but it doesn't seem to make police officers decide that they are at war with white people and will change their style of policing to reflect that.

Without an honest, unbiased media, a true Democracy cannot happen. What America currently has is largely a for profit propaganda machine masquerading as a valid media.

Policeman kills black, it's a policeman problem. Or a bad cop. Or a scared, poorly trained cop. Your choice depends on who you are.

A lot of those signs in Ferguson-related marches didn't bother to say "the occasional cop" or "some cops." They were broad-brush signs much of the time.

White kills people, it's because of "gun culture." Or because he's a terrorist. Or mentally deranged. Depends on where you're posting.

Black kills people. It's because he's fomenting a race war or he's in a gang. Or he's angry. Or mentally deranged.

Muslim kills people. It's because he's a jihadi or he's a terrorist or he's mentally deranged. Or perhaps he's acting in self-defense because of Western imperialism and it's really "our" (which means "not us, but them over there that we dislike&quot .

Again, it depends on who you are. You pick your bias, you pick your group, you pick your hatred or antipathy. And after that you know which is the lone-wolf, mentally deranged, independent actor and you know which are simply manifestations of larger social movements of oppression and privilege or rooted in authentic, righteous rage.

That's whether it's Newtown, Ferguson, the recent Paris incident, or the cop killings in NYC.

seems to be corrupted from the Governor on down. Just a few examples: arresting black people so that the system can pay for itself (harassment), totally militarized organization that uses it equipment to manipulate if not terrorize the people, police brutality including the murder of Michael Brown (and two other people since then), police connected to KKK, no back ground checks on police (Wilson's former employer would have told us he and the unit he worked for had all been disbanned due to civil rights violations),a police chief who lied to the media and the people to protect a dirty cop, a crooked prosecutor who not only did not even try to get a trial but even knowingly allowed a mentally ill witness who was not even at the scene to give false testimony, and a governor who turns his back on this kind of corruption.

Please don't misunderstand me though, I don't mean to say that this issue with Ferguson and the shooting of unarmed black suspects by some incredibly ill trained and bigoted white police officers isn't an important issue. It absolutely is, however much in the same way that Black Americans seem to have the sins of a handful of gang members thrown on them despite how law abiding they are so too are the Mentally Ill judged and condemned collectively for the actions of a small group mass shooters. A number which don't even seem to have any history of Mental Illness.
