Armed Woman Hospitalized After Being Shot In The Leg By Police At Hollywood Boulevard

A change of tactics?

http://www.ibtimes.com/armed-woman-hospitalized-after-being-shot-leg-police-hollywood-boulevard-1767956

A woman, who was allegedly armed with a baseball bat and a handgun, was hospitalized after a policeman shot her in the leg on Friday in Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles. Diamond Vargas, 47, was reportedly shot by the officer after she allegedly pointed a gun at him.

Investigators conducted interviews at the location to get a clearer picture of the incident. Vargas was reportedly smashing a scooter with a baseball bat and arguing with another woman, whose identity was not released.

“She then sees the officers, at which point she goes to her pocket, pulls out a handgun. She pointed it at the security guard … then she points it at the officers and an officer-involved shooting occurred,”

another example of why police shootings of citizens will never abate when the citizens are also shooting.

or broke every rule of firearms defense and got incredibly lucky. Draw a weapon on a cop and you are more than likely to get shot.

Either the officer wasn't a very good shot or there were enough people around, both behind the woman and maybe behind him as well, that the officer could not allow her to fire a shot and could not risk missing himself if he aimed at the center of mass.

More plainly, this was probably a very specific set of circumstances that forced the officer to break training and aim for the leg. Fortunately for all concerned, the leg shot worked in this case and the woman dropped the gun.
