Milwaukee Elected Official's Tweet Mocks The Death Of Eric Garner

Milwaukee County Supervisor Deanna Alexander mocks death of Eric Garner with "Breathe Easy" Tweet



Last weekend, Milwaukee was in the grip of fierce racial tensions as the city waited for the decision by Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm on whether to charge former Milwaukee Police Officer Christopher Manney, who is white, for the death of Dontre Hamilton, a black homeless man with a history of mental illness.

(As we have seen too many times, the decision was to let the killer cop go free. Fortunately, the feds are looking into it now.)

During this period of heightened tension, Milwaukee County Supervisor Deanna Alexander, who represents a racially-mixed district, thought it be a good idea to put out a racist tweet:



I recognize that a lot of police officers and right wingers have bought these shirts, but when an elected official does it, that takes another step across the line of acceptability.

Not only is Alexander's tweet vile and disgusting, it is hypocritical.

Alexander is the same person who used taxpayer dollars to send out mailers meant for voter suppression. She is also the same person who used her office to raise funds for her father's funeral, for which she is currently under an ethics investigation.
