...but the media that most people can't seem to figure out is wrong...is the same one informing you of all these mass shootings.

"Businessmen always play both sides." Everyone knows this is true, but for some reason a group of terrified people on one subject (guns) laugh at the fears of the other group (ISIS)...and the other group does the exact same back. Now...if that isn't playing both sides against the middle, pray tell...what is?

From a strictly neutral perspective in answering your question, it boils down to efficacy of resistance.

Put simply, you can fight, kill and defeat ISIS, and ISIS can theoretically do the same to us. ISIS is a viable and very real, if distant, threat with the stated purpose of annihilating our collective Westernized way of life.

You can't fight "guns", even as an abstract concept, largely because fighting an inanimate object with no clearly defined goals or objectives is a waste of time, energy and money. You may as well fight a war against "Drugs" or "Money" or "purple pattered poodles."

The dickless ISIS is oceans and thousands of miles away.

Dickless gun culture is right here, hovering outside our schools.

The NRA policies actually allow muslim radicals to harm themselves for their attacks in this country.

I'm seeing lots of sociological, strategic, and political speculations in this thread. But the answer PTTP gave has trillions of reasons behind it.

I have to say, I hate it when someone nails it in a thread and everone just scrolls right past it, lah-ti-dah, lah-ti-dah!
