Do not try to load the Oregon shooter's blog!

It has been reported that a blog called "lithium_love" belonged to the Oregon shooter. Whether that is true or not is unknown. However, searching for that blog does lead to a link at a "torrent" site. DO NOT CLICK that link from Google.

The blog apparently no longer exists, but the link does try to load a nasty "Your computer is infected" malware. When that happens, everything locks up and you're stuck there. Do not click anything at that link, since everything is tied to the malware.

The only decent escape is to end your browser's task using Task Manager in Windows, if you have it loaded. Then, you can restart your computer and recover. A power down will also get you off that page, but could create other issues.

Again, do not search for that blog or follow the link from Google's search results. It's a PITA to fix the problem!

Note: The malware site is probably an exploit and may not be the actual location of that blog. That's a typical thing for people to do to mislead people into clicking a malicious link when there is a news story. It's best to be safe and simply not attempt to view this blog.

It's sad that the malware folks jump all over new stories like this. They'll manage to infect many people's computers today, I'm sure.

I'm set up to trap such malware and escape without issues, but most people panic when everything locks up and they can't do anything. Then, they click on the X on a box or something, and the download starts. Malware sucks, and those fake security malware windows that pop up are the very worst. Some can infect computers and then begin encrypting the data on your hard drive. Once that happens, they hold you up for ransom to get your data back. It can cost a great deal of money to retrieve your data and recover, even if you go to a computer technician.

I advise all Windows users to run task manager at startup. Using it, you can shut down the task for your browser and restart your computer without ever clicking on anything in the browser. Good anti virus and anti malware software can also protect you, but the malware creators are always working on defeating that software.
