The strategy of not talking about guns is a dishonest tactic

Some want to talk about mental health (but not about guns).

Some want to talk about young men having no purpose (but not about guns).

Some want to talk about not giving the shooters attention to feed a need for publicity (but not about guns).

Some want to talk about the danger that cars pose (but not about guns).

Some want to talk about all the ways that people are harmed or killed violently (but not about guns).

The reason it's dishonest is that the other topics never come up, except in the aftermath of a shooting. They don't want to actually talk about those things except to the extent that they can stop the discussion of guns.

That's all.

It's when people (on either side) begin screeching that it gets out of hand. You know...usually by the third post or so.

Unfortunately, when you simply choose to 'talk about' guns, you don't get to ban them (which is the only time 'talking about' them will end). So eventually they blank you out, you blank them out, and we get the back and forth we see all across the front page.

The elite do keep y'all divided SO well. I'm almost jealous how good it is, in a sick, disgusted sort of way.

...figure out that a plant would either not admit she was raised Republican until a few months before joining this site (something I've mentioned no less than 300 times, I'm certain) and wouldn't leave such amazingly obvious clues lying right in the middle of a post. I mean yeah, I get that there's a ton of people infiltrating forums, but come on.

No, I meant it in this manner: there are two kinds of people, those who are divisive and those who recognize the agenda to divide them. Of the first group (that group is the afore-mentioned "y'all&quot , there are two main sides (total freedom, total ban or partialban-to-become-total-ban).

So when I, a member of the second group, observe the back and forths of the first, I comment that the divisiveness is working on y'all.

I DO hope that clears up the context and defends my good name for the, oh, I don't know, probably 800th or so time.

Is it not ok to talk about other possibly related issues?

because talking about mental health is offensive to those mentally ill. Talking about black on black crime (50 shot in Chicago this past weekend) is racist. The only thing that's allowed is talking about how to disarm legal gun owners who have never, ever, used their guns in any nefarious way, nor have any intention of doing so. (Unless it's in defense of life or family lives).

Why would it be different for guns?

Personally I'd like to know exactly what it is about American culture that creates these severely alienated and hostile people. I certainly have my hypotheses about various causes and I've done what I can about some but I'm just one person out of a third of billion.

From some perspectives those who want only to talk about the guns are avoiding talking about the forces in American society that seem to uniquely create more psychopaths than in other similarly developed nations.

We practically worship high functioning psychopaths and then are horrified at similar personalities who just don't have the self control to keep their innate lack of a conscience channeled in socially acceptable fashion.
