You could go to bed one night a non­-famous person and, by the morning, you could wake up with everyone knowing your name. From some guy going in to audition for a spot on American Idol to a teenager just trying to make some money working at Target, viral sensations can come in any size, shape, or form. For this select group below, their pop culture super­fame was over as quickly as it started.

When the world heard Ted Williams talk, it basically stopped us all in our tracks. An Ohio-based journalist discovered him holding a cardboard sign on the side of the road in January 2011. When the video of their interview went online, Williams went from being a homeless unknown to a viral sensation overnight. After being discovered, he went on a whirlwind press tour. But shortly after that was over, the recovering alcoholic began drinking again. He went to rehab and is sober as of this writing. In 2014, HLN reported that he was living in his own home with his longtime girlfriend.

Since then, his voice was featured in a Kraft Mac and Cheese commercial and in a film called Houseless about the struggles of living on the streets. Surprisingly, in June 2015, he announced he is running for president as an independent candidate for the 2016 election.
