5 Indefensible Tweets From The NRA Since The Oregon Gun Massacre

After a mass shooting, the NRA traditionally goes silent for a period of time. In the case of the gun massacre in Oregon, the NRA stopped tweeting on Thursday, October 1 at 1:44 p.m., shortly after the news broke. The account resumed tweeting at 12:07 p.m. on Friday, October 2 with an innocuous tweet about gun safety.

By Monday, the NRA twitter account was aggressively tweeting out information intended to head off any efforts to increase gun control in the wake of the massacre at Umpqua Community College. Much of this information, however, was wildly misleading or just plain inaccurate.

Here are five of the NRA’s most egregious recent tweets:

The NRA is no longer an organization that protects 2nd Amendment Rights; it has become a far right, anti-government cult with the ability to bribe more than half of Congress. THIS IS WHY WE HAVE A GUN PROBLEM IN AMERICA!

The voice for guns is WAY wrong.

Now the 10 million dollar questions.......

How do we fix it?

How do we get the cult to admit they are wrong and this must be fixed?

(through complaints, e-mails, letters, etc?) to stop referring to them as a "Second Amendment non-profit". Their interpretation of the second amendment does not tally with reality. As Chief Justice Warren Burger said "The real purpose of the Second Amendment was to ensure that state armies- the militia- would be maintained for the defense of the state. The very language of the Second Amendment refutes any argument that that it was intended to guarantee every citizen an unfettered right to any kind of weapon he or she desires." Having the NRA continually connected to the second amendment provides them with a legitimacy they don't deserve. I don't know enough about the history of the organization to know if thatwas always the case, but now they are little more than a gun industry lobbying group.

I'm not too certain about the non-profit part either, but I guess that's a matter of legal interpretation.

Further clarification is required as to the true meaning(as described above). Expand as necessary.

What part of "amendment" don't people understand? It's time for a change.

The election process in the USA is a complete sham and Citizens United case (the WORST Supreme Court ruling since Dred Scott v. Sanford in 1857) made it a billion (pun intended) worst! No other country in the world has an electoral process as crazy as ours.

The 2nd Amendment is nothing more than a tool used by the NRA to help push for huge profits for the organizations that the NRA represents and that is the Gun Manufacturers.

The NRA couldn't give a rats ass about the Constitution - it is all about profits and every mass shooting means huge DOLLAR SIGNS to the NRA and the Gun Manufacturers because there are low-IQ idiots out there that still believe Obama is going to take away their guns. And these idiots would rather live in their shitty little hovels living from paycheck to paycheck so they can spend ever last penny they have buying more guns that they didn't really need but were too stupid to know any better.

that the Mexican government has asked us to regulate them because all those Texas gun shows are a primary source for weapons and ammunition for the Mexican drug cartels.

Of course, the pro-gun nuts are also the ones screaming about the "illegals" here in the US of A. Well, if we weren't busy furnishing guns and bullets to Mexican and Central American drug cartels, the decent citizens of those countries wouldn't be fleeing their homes in fear for their lives or shipping their children north in what can only be considered an act of desperation. Getting their children out of their violence-torn countries is the only hope many have to give their children a slim chance to find sanctuary and have a better life.
