Planned Parenthood Probes Find No Wrongdoing, But The Damage Has Been Done: GOP Success!

"The videos, as dishonest as the videos are, have had their intended effect."

If an organization is accused of a crime but there's no evidence it committed that crime, should the organization still be punished for its imaginary crime? The answer from Republicans is a resounding yes -- at least if the organization is Planned Parenthood.

In July, the Center for Medical Progress began releasing selectively edited videos of Planned Parenthood staff members discussing the health care provider's fetal tissue donation program. Anti-abortion advocates immediately began accusing Planned Parenthood of profiting off the sale of fetal tissue, which would be illegal. Multiple investigations were launched in Congress and in the states. They turned up no evidence that Planned Parenthood was doing anything other than receiving legal reimbursements for the cost of processing the donations.

That doesn't seem to matter to GOP elected officials across the country.

This will mobilize the women voter to vote for politicians that support PP.

Some Planned Parenthood centers in some states did get defunded but those are being challenged in court (and some have been reinstated) and, let's be frank, all those videos did was just give those states' governors the excuse to do what they wanted to do anyway. Planned Parenthood's support remains stronger than ever (much more popular than any of the right-wing governors/congressmen going after them) and I believe that their attacks are only going to further alienate women voters from the GOP (not that they had much support to begin with but now the GOP is going to be even worse off- good luck with them attracting young female voters to the party). Republicans thought that they could "ACORN" Planned Parenthood but I don't think they will be able to no matter how many investigations they launch, which I believe will be increasingly tuned out to the point that not many people- except for the rabid followers in the anti-choice movement- will be hanging on their every word.

and provide an explanation to the public. The only way to rectify these strategic political attacks.
