(14,733 posts)There was one weird part where Farrakhan was talking about how some folks thought he had something to do with assassinating someone. It seemed like an odd thing to talk about at such an event.

I thought they were talking about the original million man march...I don't have tv, so I rely on the internet.

(34 posts)Glad I did. The MSM is pure crap, drivel and propaganda now. They can't be trusted for anything. Plus once you've seen the same clip of terrorists trying to jump over a wooden horse 10,000 times on CNN, it kinda loses it's flavor. I look to alternative sources for real news these days.

(22,666 posts)Who have their TVs on - just left friends house - was there for hours - went through 4 -6 channels. All of us seeing little to nothing on this march compared to online. It's amazing - and not in a good way.
No TV in my house. Can't stand it - for the same reasons you mentioned. IMO it's a total waste of money.

(70,200 posts)I had actually checked back to my OP and about 4 people had posted comments--then I went to prepare supper for my 90 yr mom who does not move around much anymore and I came back and found this. Unbelieveable--just over and hour by my estimate. I really did not know it was an old pic--although admit I was surprised by the large crowd.

On Sat Oct 10, 2015, 05:25 PM an alert was sent on the following post:
Stunning imagery coming out of the #MillionManMarch today. Absolutely awesome.

REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS
This pic is from 1995. The OP was informed of this an hour ago and others have since asked for the p ost to be removed. The OP posted in another thread 20 minutes ago, so s/he is on line and aware of the problem. Originally intended, or not, it's now knowingly deceiving DU.
JURY RESULTS
A randomly-selected Jury of DU members completed their review of this alert at Sat Oct 10, 2015, 05:42 PM, and voted 4-3 to HIDE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Don't think there is a limit on photos posted on DU, we have had many photos posted which are older. Alerted is much too sensitive.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: The post isn't rude or offensive. If it's inaccurate, the alerter can say so, as others have. This is NOT a reason to alert. It is an opportunity for educating.
Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #5 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: The alerter convinced me. After looking at the pattern of banners in the audience in Muriel_Volestrangler's post, it's very clear that this is an old photo. The poster should repost either without a photo, or with an actual photo from today.
Juror #6 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #7 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: Since the OP is aware but has not corrected this I must agree with the alerter

I remember marching with 1.2 Million other people in DC in 2004, for reproductive choice. The media pretended it wasn't happening, spent all day talking about Estee Lauder and scouting NASCAR races to find Bush voters to interview.

Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan leads anniversary gathering, calling for 'Justice or Else'
October 10, 2015 12:21PM ET |Updated 5:01PM ET
Thousands of black rights activists from across the nation gathered Saturday on the National Mall to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Million Man March and call for policing reforms and changes in black communities.
Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, who spearheaded the original march, led the anniversary gathering Saturday at the Capitol called the "Justice or Else" march.
In a speech at the event, Farrakhan said that black men and women should foresake foul language and violence against each other. He also praised the protesters behind Black Lives Matter movement, launched in response to the killings of black Americans like Michael Brown, the unarmed black teen shot dead by a white police officer on Aug. 9, 2014 in Missouri.
We are fighting for Michael Brown, Jr. and demanding justice for all families who have lost loved ones to police killings. Who are you fighting for? Farrakhan said in a Facebook post ahead of Saturday's demonstration.

(22,271 posts)there are more portapotties in attendance than actual people, the MSM will cover their event for days. Have "experts" on the TEE VEE to talk about how this is a true grassroots movement (like these amoebas would be able to recognize a real grassroots movement).
