Georgia does away with Confederate Memorial Day, Robert E. Lee Birthday

Georgia will no longer officially recognize Confederate Memorial Day or Robert E. Lee's birthday ... 2015's calendar listed Robert E. Lee's birthday as Jan. 19 and Confederate Memorial Day as April 26. 2016's calendar has those days listed as only "state holidays" The change was made official in an email of holiday dates ... from Gov. Nathan Deal to state department heads ... Alabama is the last state to have a legal holiday set aside to solely commemorate the birthday of Davis, the president of the Confederate States ...

Robert E. Lee....after he lost the war and surrendered and for the rest of his life he said that flying the confederate flag was an act of treason. Maybe he had regrets. Probably didn't want a memorial in his honor.
