Georgia will no longer officially recognize Confederate Memorial Day or Robert E. Lee's birthday ... 2015's calendar listed Robert E. Lee's birthday as Jan. 19 and Confederate Memorial Day as April 26. 2016's calendar has those days listed as only "state holidays" The change was made official in an email of holiday dates ... from Gov. (4,119 posts)Robert E. Lee....after he lost the war and surrendered and for the rest of his life he said that flying the confederate flag was an act of treason. Maybe he had regrets. Probably didn't want a memorial in his honor.
