http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2015/10/16/3713159/ted-cruz-deportation/On Tuesday morning, Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz spoke to a crowd of Iowa voters from a small hotel in rural eastern Iowa. As he spoke, calling for tightening immigration enforcement and securing the borders, he stood in front of a wall painted with the words of Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Following his remarks, Roger Farmer, a Mennonite from eastern Iowa, asked Cruz to reconcile his support for deportation with those words from the Bible. The Bible says we should welcome the stranger and the immigrant, he said. That verse on the wall behind you says a similar thing. Your policies seem to be in opposition to that.
Cruz quickly tried to justify his policies in front of the largely religious audience.
The fact that we lock our doors doesnt mean we hate our next door neighbors, he said, before going on to discuss his support for securing the borders and preventing undocumented immigrants from getting into the United States. Cruz also pointed out that he is the son of a legal immigrant and that we should continue to welcome legal immigrants.
We are a loving, generous, welcoming country, the Texas senator said.

How dare you try to hit a right-winger with Bible-quotes??? Right-wingers are the only ones who are allowed to hit others with Bible-quotes!!! The Bible says so!!! No, you may not look that up!!!

When a stranger sojourns with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong. You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.

not just Cubans like his family. One foot on the beach and you are legal, shouldn't matter if you are from Cuba, Mexico or Central America.

Why do they hate the secular state they were mostly all born in and gave them their fame and fortune?

like to use that goes like this: 'Hate the sin. Love the sinner.' The hate the sin part permits them to be bigoted assholes. The love the sinner bit lets them feel righteous about it. it's a win-win.
