RNC chief: GOP is ‘cooked’ without White House win in 2016

The GOP will be "cooked" as a party if it doesn't win the White House in 2016, says Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus.

“We’re seeing more and more that if you don’t hold the White House, it’s very difficult to govern in this country — especially in Washington, D.C.,” Priebus said, according to The Washington Examiner.

“However, I think that we have become, unfortunately, a midterm party that doesn’t lose and presidential party that’s had a really hard time winning."

“I do think we’re cooked as a party for quite a while as a party if we don’t win in 2016,” Priebus added. "I do think it’s going to be hard to dig out of something like that.”

You never, EVER telegraph the possibility of losing like this. Never.

Just looking at Priebus makes me sleepy. Listening to him is an effort.

In some respects, Wasserman-Schultz is the Anti-Priebus. Priebus is so nonconfrontational, he can't get anything done. Wasserman-Schultz is so confrontational, she conjures melodrama out of thin air.

Both parties are in need of transformation but when the dust is settled, it truly looks as if the Democratic party will be the one left standing.

Priebus is right. At this moment, they always win the midterms and we win the presidency. If they win the White House, what's left for us? Are Democrats going to start coming out in midterm elections?

We won in 2006, but that was after 6 years of horrible policy. If we lose, ours is the party I see in peril.

I don't care about the party. I care about the ideas. It is very clear where THEY want to take America. Back to sweat shops, robber barons, Charles Dickens, child labor, sick people dying in the streets. That's all perfectly cool with them, because back in the Bush era they got every penny out of the U.S. Treasury, and they'll all be just fine behind their compound walls, summering on their yachts, jetting around the world. After all, $20 billion stashed in a tax-free Cayman Islands account will go a long way. Who the hell needs health care and Social Security when you already own the hospitals and the banks?

The media maintains the charade, of course, because, without the pretense of a horse race, they can't promote their political "cage match" fiascoes to dullards who sit and watch the high-priced ads they sell.

He is a total idiot who could not it hold together.

Ironically, they have fired those people who brought them the 2010 victory, because those people were not extreme enough for them. And now, they have been taken hostage by a group of terrorists hiding as populists.

He barely escaped going to jail for his machinations.

His corrupt redrawing of districts to favor repugs is why they win the mid-terms with fewer total votes.

Here's hoping come the 2020 census the Dems will get to redraw the districts fairly.

GOP victories, creating further need for an activist Democratic President, enabled by the (possibly Democratic-lead) Senate. Yep, they'll be cooked federally.

They can still continue to draw half our states toward their third-world utopian dream, though. As long as those voters continue to swallow the Kool-Aid.
