Poor Gowdy couldn't call for that break fast enough.

(6,286 posts)was browbeating Clinton for a long time about Sidney Blumenthal, and read a lot of his emails. He even pointed out a passage where Clinton said some unflattering things about Obama's foreign policy (which ironically, will help her fend off Republicans in the GE if she gets the nod). The whole thing was largely irrelevant and Blumenthal's emails were of course cherry-picked to cast Clinton in a particular light.
Cummings asked Gowdy to yield and then shamed him mercilessly about the whole pointless aspect of it, and said that he'd spoken with the parlimentarian(?) and that they were within their rights to release Blumenthal's entire testimony transcript. Cummings and Schiff tag-teamed Gowdy, who balked at calling for a vote to release it, and just wore him out with "what are you afraid of," "I thought we wanted the truth and nothing but the truth," and so on until Gowdy called for a lunch break.
I'm not doing the drama justice with my paraphrasing, but it was very lively and entertaining.

(2,533 posts)It was brilliant & I know they had it planned.
Gowdy selectively leaked many e-mails from the "investigation". Today he again reffered to some e-mails in regard to Sidney Blumenthal-And Rep Cummins got him to admit they had selectively leaked only damaging e-mails. Then hammer time....
Why don't you release ALL the e-mails...
Instant Gowdy steaming head humina humina humina...
edit-reflection beat me to it & did a better job.
But happy 1k post to me...Only took 11 years(!)
