I realize they live in a blinkered world, where most displays of extremism are regarded with admiration, but Gowdy is looking bad in the eyes of the general public. He has completely failed to "get" Clinton, and it's clear the inquisition has run off the rails. This stuff will play well with the folks back home, the people who have obviously been drinking the same drug-laced water as Gowdy, but it doesn't look attractive on the national level. Don't get me wrong. I hope they do it. I would love to see Gowdy as the golden hope, the rising star, etc. But he has failed so miserably it should be obvious even to the Republicans.

Republicans were singing his praises that he was totally fair and impartial, etc. etc. That narrative started falling apart on them really badly the last few weeks with everything that's coming out - the attempt to make Hillary look bad with some weird document with redacted info, the wine parties, etc.
