That empty, sinking feeling when they realized they just gave Hillary the Presidency...

They had illusions of grandeur. They were going to destroy Hillary Clinton. They took turns with their hatchets. She stood strong, like an oak tree.

Now, it must be tough to swallow that she took their best shots and came out looking stronger than when she walked in this morning.

We can only hope that the voters in their districts will give each of them their just reward in the next election...

First, picking a battle of wits with someone who outguns you in the brains department by a couple of thousand to one is generally a Really Bad Idea and something to be avoided.

Second, if you are a lawyer examining a witness and said witness is destroying your case, eating your lunch and kicking your ass six ways to Sunday you get that witness off the stand ASAP if not sooner. The LAST thing you do is keep the witness on the stand to keep demolishing you brick by brick. But they did it anyway. T

There was a great screencap of the hearing and HRC had a bemused "Jeez, just how dumb are these guys, anyway?" look on her face that was priceless.

And I say that as a committed Sanders supporter. She steamrolled them.

I think Repukes would rather see Bernie as prez than Hillary. That's just due to their innate mysogynistic ways. Something about Hillary drives them ASB (ape-sh$# bananas).

Since I was working all day, with not a single break, I didn't get to see her responses. I'll be busily Googling for video clips tonight. Or looking for re-runs.

I'm grateful to my fellow DU-ers for their reactions. In the spirit of Halloween, I cackle.

Anti Semitism and ageism. Plus the normal things they blame all democrats for. Not saying I won't support him 100% if he gets the nomination, just that he has baggage too. Even if it's bullshit.

and have for 20 years. Hillary will need a huge turnout to overcome the Republican hate machine. Bernie may be all things you mentioned but they won't hate him like they hate Hillary. Bernie gets 25% of the Republicans in Vermont to vote for him. The Republicans in Vermont are more moderate than other states but they're not liberal and certainly not socialist.

The cave orc base has been trained to hate her guts for nearly 25 years. No one will motivate more of the cave orcs to come out and vote (against her) than she will. She has very little chance of peeling off any Repigs and is probably worth 1-2 million additional Repig votes nationally. Bernie can definitely eat into the Repig base. Like Paul Wellstone, people will vote for him even if they don't agree with him all down the line simply because they can tell he is not bullshitting them.

the Republicans threw enough meat to their base to keep the Republican hate fest going. If she is the nominee she is going have to get a huge turnout to counter the fact that all the Hillary haters are going to be coming out of the woodwork to vote.

But wow... I find it hard to disagree. My gut feeling is that this has done more for Hillary Clinton's presidential prospects than any debate, advertising, or stump speech ever could. I actually didn't watch the hearings (going to try and see some later tonight) but followed along reaction chats throughout the day and checked some news pieces. General consensus seems to be Clinton, with a couple assists from Democrats on the panel, made the entire Republican party look extremely foolish.

A big moment seemed to be the vote on releasing the transcripts that many found both maddening and hilariously incompetent.

Hillary got to look very strong on the big stage under intense scrutiny.

Hillary looked and sounded truly "presidential" for the entire 10+ hour hearing. Steady as a rock, and fresh as a daisy until the closing gavel.

In every picture of Gowdy that I saw on TV after the hearing, he has this "that didn't quite work - now, what in the hell am I going to do" expression on his face.

The hearing flopped for Republicans and was a win for Hillary.

A tea party extremist.

I love Bernie, but this asinine idea that Hillary is the devil incarnate is as irrational and annoying as listening to Hannity demonize Obama.

The idea that people are so scared of Hillary reminds me of the way ammosexuals that are scared to leave the house without a gun.

You are a fear monger sowing irrational fear.

I'm voting for Bernie in the primary, but I'll vote for whoever the Dem is that wins the primary, and without constantly bitching about it.

this post is off topic but didn't really know where else to put it. I am not blonde, naturally or fake. It's funny that there are all these dumb blonde jokes but when it comes down to it, it seems it really pays off to be blonde. Look at the women in the Senate, most are blonde. Look at who tops the list of most powerful women, Angela Merkel, blonde. Yahoo CEO, blonde. On CNN, all the female journalists I am seeing are blonde. It seems blondes not only have more fun, they have more power. WTF
