Ben Carson is soaring in Iowa in new DM Register Poll (Jeb! tied for 5th)

A new Des Moines Register/Bloomberg poll in Iowa finds Ben Carson taking the lead over Donald Trump in the GOP presidential race, 28% to 19%.

Key findings: “Even Carson’s most controversial comments — about Muslims, Hitler and slavery — are attractive to likely Republican caucusgoers. The poll shows just two perceived weaknesses: his lack of foreign policy experience and his research using fetal tissue during his medical career.”

Ted Cruz was in third at 10%, followed by Marco Rubio at 9%, Jeb Bush at 5%, Rand Paul at 5% and Carly Fiorina at 4%.

The current crop of GOP hopefuls, all running for the nomination, and most demonstrating some rather peculiar ( to be as polite as possible) notions and astonishing positions, hateful, harmful and ridiculous, is one thing. That these fringe folks are getting support at all, much less in the numbers noted, is astonishing to me and seems indicative that we the people are missing something important.

I believe that these polling numbers are not at all representative of the real electorate and their position on issues and individuals. It is just too early yet in this race for the majority of people of this nation to be involved or to be heard. Actually i have no choice but to believe that as the alternative suggests that my fellow Americans have gone batshite crazy!

Didn't Santorum win there? And Bachmann did well too if I'm not mistaken. I'm a bit surprised no one is trying to make an issue of the fetal tissue Carson used. Huckabee and Cruz should be all over it. Trump could I guess but I don't think anyone thinks he really cares about aborted fetuses
