About those 10000 guns in South Carolina.....
I worked in Chesterfield County for a summer on a geology project. Pageland is one of the larger towns. . I traversed EVERY road, trail and pig path. If there was a hint of a path, I went down it with my partner from Furman University.
You aren't on the edge of the Earth but you can see it from there. It is a classic country county made up of itty bitty towns and crossroad communities. Everybody knows everybody and everybody's business.
I have no doubt that there are armed groups and such in the swamps and even in the state legislature. I seriously doubt if that man was part of one. He had to have enough wiles to steal but his behavior and demeanor probably let him blend into the background. He probably lifted those guns from some real nuts.
You would be hard pressed to unscramble that pile of weapons, chainsaws plus lawd knows what and outfit one person much less a group. They were thrown together without a care.
He obviously has problems. I dare say that the guns were out of circulation and better off with him than with many fools I know. He was the County Gun Control Agent.
I promise you that there are worse people wandering around.
