Straight grandmother composes beautiful song for her 'trans grand-kids
A straight grandmother has written a beautiful song for who she calls her trans grand-kids.
Sherri Gray, 75, from Nashville, Tennessee, is not like most other grandparents.
While others her age might be homophobic or transphobic, she is spending her time by joining LGBTI groups, making friends, baking cupcakes and occasionally writing a song dedicated to the inspiring people she has met over the last few years.
I feel like I might be the oldest one in the room, but I feel like I have whole bunch of new grand-kids! she told Gay Star News.
Some people look at me, thinking, who is this gal hanging about?. But then they get to know me, how Im making up cupcakes, I keep on coming back they know I really do like them. Its wonderful.
I have to say I have more LGBT friends than straight now because a lot of straight people think Im nuts! But its so rewarding, and we have the best time. Its so open, its heavenly.
It feels like Ive been given another chance at expanding my family. I love them all, its so much fun. "
