No Charges Against South Carolina Cop Who Fatally Shot Teen Zachary Hammond

No criminal charges will be filed against a South Carolina police officer who fatally shot a 19-year-old during a drug sting, a state prosecutor announced Tuesday.

Solicitor Chrissy Adams said that after reviewing the case, she has determined Seneca officer Mark Tiller won't face state charges. The U.S. Department of Justice also is investigating, and Adams said she won't release additional information while those federal authorities decide whether they'll bring charges against Tiller.

The family of the 19-year-old, Zachary Hammond, wanted Adams removed from the case because she works closely with local police, but the state Supreme Court rejected the request.

Adams said she announced her decision after meeting Tuesday with members of the Hammond family. The family attorney did not immediately return a message from The Associated Press seeking comment.

I am beginning to think a kkkop could start randomly shooting elementary school kids - especially if they aren't white - in the head for fun and it would result in no consequences whatsoever.

"Can't be second-guessing our outstanding, brave police now, can we? It would undermine the very fabric of civilization that underlies our perfect 'murkan society that's better than anywhere else! Those seven-year-olds might have been armed or holding DRUGS!!!"

Hopefully it's a peaceful one. These cops are just completely out of control. I think a massive revolution is the only thing that's going to get them to stop.

Not accept any responsibility and just let the tax payers and insurance pay. Obviously the awards are not high enough to get their attention.

Cops have killed 229 blacks this year.

Cops have killed 144 browns this year.

Blacks get killed by cops at a rate of between two and three times the rate of whites or Hispanics.

While blacks bear the brunt, this is a problem that cuts across racial lines.
