The Vatican is replacing its controversial ambassador to the U.S., who arranged the meeting between Pope Francis and antigay Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis last fall.
Italian Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò will leave the position of apostolic nuncio, the equivalent of an ambassador, and will be replaced by Archbishop Christophe Pierre, a French-born clergyman who is currently the nuncio to Mexico, Catholic magazine America reports, citing Sandro Magister, a blogger who covers the Vatican.

(20,176 posts)It's like the fourth time this Pope has demoted someone for acting in a way to show him up or undermine his open-armed unity message.
Most notably, he basically fired Cardinal Raymond Burke by reassigning him to a powerless ministry out of the spotlight to serve out the rest of his career in contemplation of why you shouldn't be a dick and imply your boss is an offense to God. Burke was big potatoes, the highest office-holder in the Vatican from the United States ever.
But...Burke forgot the 1st rule of Cardinal Club: the guy in the white beanie has the authority to point you out and declare "You know what? Fuck that guy." for talking shit about him.
