David Cameron to delay publication of Iraq War inquiry until after EU referendum

David Cameron is set to postpone publication of the Iraq War inquiry report until after the EU referendum, leading to accusations that he is deliberately postponing controversial announcements.

Senior Government sources confirmed that it is likely to be published after the June 23 vote, despite the fact it will be handed to ministers next month. Mr Cameron had previously suggested that he wanted to publish the report within two weeks of receiving it.

The prospect of a further delay was last night condemned by families who lost loved ones in the conflict amid accusations that the Government is attempting to avoid anything which could turn the public against them.

“The families have had enough of politics. They’ve waited long enough. Any further delay is simply a scandal.”

Last night David Davis, the former shadow Home secretary, said he was seeking a motion in the House of Commons on April 14 demanding that the Government publishes the Chilcot report as soon as possible, and certainly within the Prime Minister’s promised two weeks.

A spokesman for the Iraq War inquiry confirmed that Sir John was still planning to deliver his report in the week commencing April 18. It emerged last month that details of a long planned British Bill of Rights will now not be published until after the June 23 vote to spare the Prime Minister from difficult arguments.

Could also be BFEE shenanigans as well. After all, Tony Bliar was just the lap poodle.
