I LOVE to be able to announce that The President of the United States is in CUBA

Wow. I'm a baby boomer who always hoped I would see this happen. President Obama has made so many amazing changes, despite record obstructionism. I could not be prouder to call him my President.

I'd love to take a trip to Cuba and breathe the air there. This has been a long time coming and took way too long. If the Cuba fiasco has proven anything it is that obviously sanctions and economic embargos are not effective tools and they punish innocent people.

Time to brush up on my very rusty Spanish. I have a high school friend who has been there, several times, and he said it is really worth seeing.

They have loads of money from oil sales to China and from what I've read it was really Russia that got them to the bargaining table. Russia has always been in charge of their nuclear facilities. They built their reactors and have been removing the spent fuel. I think a lot of people get caught up in the propaganda that makes it look like our side had a lot to do with it when in actuality the world doesn't really revolve around us. We just think it does. The Cuba embargo policy was a complete failure. The Europeans, Canadians, Russians and Chinese have been laughing at us was they vacationed there all along. They were probably lying there on those nice warm beaches, sipping a Cuba Libre' and saying to themselves "what are the stupid Americans thinking to deny themselves this pleasure?"

And has brought me to tears more often than all the rest I've lived with, combined. Fortunately, most often, like today, tears of absolute pride at having such an amazing and capable man in the White House.

It is going to be hard to see him leave office. Hopefully we will replace him with another Democrat. The alternative is unthinkable.

It was terrifying, and adding to the stress for me was the fact that so many of my classmates were military dependents and all their dads were on high alert. ....But it passed.

I completely understand the reason why an embargo was put in place. Cuba was a client nation of the USSR, and we were in the Cold War. It was no joke. ....But those days passed.

When the Berlin Wall came down and the Soviet Union broke apart, that would have been the time to end the isolation of Cuba by the US. Keeping it in place as a vestige of the Cold War that spawned it ultimately only made us look foolish. .....But now those days are past.

Thank you President Obama. Thank you.
