Rachel Maddow's coverage tonight of Obama's visit to Cuba is astounding.

Her historic context delves deep into the JFK administration when he reached out to Castro in the days before he was assassinated.

Highly recommended. I listened to it on her nightly audio podcast, posted most nights. As usual, Rachel lays down historic context that few are aware of.

She is incredible.

She presents the information in a very compelling way though, and it's a lot considering how much was lost along the way.

Both Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands will be economically devastated once Cuba is open to tourism. I lived in the USVI for 12 years and I know how afraid the business people are.

she was simply spouting propaganda.

Those US terror attacks are well known to Wm. LeoGrande and Peter Kornbluth -

and honest scholars of Latin America, of which there are too few.

Very historical stuff.

I had no idea Kennedy tried to develop relations despite the missile crisis.
