AIPAC rebukes Trump for anti-Obama comments

“Last evening, something occurred which has the potential to drive us apart, to divide us,” AIPAC President Lillian Pinkus said during the final day of the organization’s annual policy conference in Washington. “We say, unequivocally, that we do not countenance ad hominem attacks, and we take great offense against those that are levied against the president of the United States of America from our stage.

“While we may have policy differences, we deeply respect the office of the United States and our president, Barack Obama,” she added to resounding applause. “There are people in our AIPAC family who were deeply hurt last night, and for that we are deeply sorry.
“We are disappointed that so many people applauded a sentiment that we neither agree with or condone.”

The comments were a clear shot at Trump, the Republican presidential front-runner, who appeared on the same stage barely more than 12 hours before.

He's a loose cannon.

Lesson: stop giving loose cannons the world stage.

don't know jack shit about AIPAC. Plenty of Democrats are members and they strive to be bipartisan and it always was up until 2012 and that's as a result of that asshole bibi.

If the US stopped giving money and weapons to Israel they would hate us more and care about our interest about as much as any group in the ME.

Where on earth did you get the idea Israeli's hate Americans? One thing I heard over and over again on my visit last fall was how pissed they all were at bibi for jeopardizing the relationship with the US with his bullshit.

And good people but as a policy, Israel would have no more heartburn destroying America as they would Iran if we no longer served in its best interest.
We have a very unhealthy relationship with Israel. We interact and give difference to them like no other country on Earth. Due to the religious obsessions of many in the US, we have a doomsday cult fixation about Israel being the tool to bring about the end of the world. The whole thing is disturbing.

that we give to Israel and most of that comes back in the form of weapons they buy from American arms manufacturers. You're very wrong about how Israel views the US. Very, very wrong. And you can't really hold Israel responsible for the armageddon nonsense our fundies believe in.
