If Trump takes over the Republican Party...

there is no reason to believe that he will not consolidate his power within the political Parties and easily defeat the Democratic candidate in November. That may seem like an unthinkable possibility to most of us, but I believe it is highly likely.

Once he is sworn in as President of this country, there is no one in the House or Senate strong enough to oppose him. They would fear for their political lives. He will rule as a dictator. No one will supply enough votes to impeach him.

We are on the verge of losing our nation that was created almost 240 years ago. It is my opinion that we are much closer than we think.

Bernie is far better positioned to stop Donald Dump than Hillary is. Check the polls; he's been the stronger candidate for months.

is about 20% behind the turnout for Trump and the Republicans. I do not think that portends well for the Democratic Party. We have a demagogue on the loose.

GD-P is a great place to discuss who would be stronger against the republicans. Occasionally it is worthwhile to discuss the threat posed by Trump or other republicans without trashing one or the other of our own candidates.

But I take heart that Democrats are about 32% of the voters, Republicans are 28% and Indies
take the rest. Of those 28%, about half could go for the Donald.
The Indies get split, I think most will go for Bernie in the GE.

Outside of that base he has nothing.

It's enough to almost get him the republican nomination but he'll be destroyed in a General Election.

Trump is the greatest gift to the Democrats ever.

He already has. I'm not even paying attention to the Democratic Primary at this point. The electoral votes on the Right? It will be very difficult for Cruz to catch him and there doesn't appear to be a pathway KasIch.

He's their nominee - UNLESS - they have a brokered convention.

Business. And these latter are preparing to replace our democracy with an oligarchy. They
are already more than half-way there.

I tend to think Trump is for Trump only - and no one else. After his term of office, it's not
likely that he will have established a long-lasting movement to continue his policies. The
Republican Establishment will move back in again.

Us blacks and browns - won't survive Trump. You worry about the Oligarchy - I'm making sure I can get out if god forbid Trump takes the white house.

His supporters are foaming at the mouth insane racists that if you give a machete too will turn into Hutus.

I can't take that risk with my life. Sorry - but I'm not going to do it.

There is NOTHING you can write to make me change my mind.

I'm going with my husband's lates 90's uncle's (inner circle of Mussolini) instinct and getting the fuck out. What was the point of marrying a guy from Italy if I don't have an out of America? He made that point - take your pretty American wife and come home if that 'one' gets close.

Cruz we can survive - Trump - no way.

We aren't even planning on being here on election night if he is their nominee. If he wins - those people will go insane. If he loses - they will go insane.

He's attracted the worst of the worst of the dregs of society and I do NOT trust them. I don't. They are vile.

years ago they attracted the Neo-Cons, who took only some 10 years to reach the top of
the Republican political ladder and then the Neo-Cons kicked out the old-timer Repubs.

Recently the Tea Partiers joined them, and they are trying hard to kick out the leaders
of the Neo-Cons.

It's great that you have some place to go to. I've lived in Europe quite a few years
myself, but that was a long time ago. You will enjoy yourself there.

Never thought it would be a Trump like person. But both parties had long ignored and marginalized the lower middle class in this country. The GOP used them for a funding source, and the Dems used them for their union call centers and voter lists. But the individuals themselves were always in danger of revolting to a populist candidate. The only reason I'm worried about Trump is because too many of the GOP are going to suck it up and vote for him, and too many blue collar dems are going to join him. To some degree I'm worried about a small minority of Bernie supporters who will prefer Trump to Hillary.

It sounds like a couple of things might happen to rain on his parade. If he doesn't get enough delegates, they will oust him at the convention on the second round of voting. Trump would then, most likely, run as an Independent and split the vote. If he does get the delegates and is the Republican nominee, some on the right are talking about forming an Independent ticket to oppose him. Vote split again. If the worst happens and Republicans actually rally around him, then we could be screwed.

he has a negative -30% approval rating. That means twice as many people disapprove of him then approve. Larger than any candidate ever to run for President.

He won't get near the White house and his defeat will take the GOP Senate with him.
