Can you guess who said this----
No peeking....
This is beyond narcissism. I used to think Trump was an 11-year-old, an undeveloped schoolyard bully. I was off by about 10 years. His needs are more primitive, an infantile hunger for approval and praise, a craving that can never be satisfied. He lives in a cocoon of solipsism where the world outside himself has value indeed exists only insofar as it sustains and inflates him.
remember, NO peeking....

(23,973 posts)...Krauthammer was a psychiatrist. Physician, heal thyself.
That said, he nails Trump pretty well.

(18,672 posts)Some people can do only one thing very well, and are batshit crazy when it comes to almost everything else. Krauthammer's diagnosis of Trump certainly fits.

(81,220 posts)There is no getting around his very special gifts, and his accomplishments, in the operating room. But on everything else? Jesus Mary & Joseph... I came to suspect that Ben Carson must be some sort of idiot savant. I'm leaning that way on Jill Stein, too. She's a Harvard MD. Okay. But her "ideas" on anything outside medicine? GOOD GRIEF!!!!

(7,683 posts)So if he's around 1 year old, is he doing Melanie Klein's (a student of Freud) good breast/bad breast thing? And we know he's utterly fixated with breasts.

(81,220 posts)Maybe the problem is - he LOOKS like a 70-year-old man. But he's really still a one-year-old. We're dealing with an arrested development case - on the highest-octane steroids in creation.

(7,683 posts)I totally agree! And an ugly 70 year old, at that!

(48,955 posts)While I don't think diagnoses via press reports is an accurate diagnosis- it is very interesting given the columnist.

(6,133 posts)that so many Americans are so Rush Limbaugh brain washed that they believe Trump. They own all the guns too.
calimary
(81,220 posts)That side is the one with the guns. When they don't get their way, what on earth can be the result - besides everything and anything bad?
I did notice that among the chattering class we've seen and heard observations about how you see violence at Trump rallies, and loud, angry, volatile people being exhorted from the podium to "get 'em outta here" and "if anybody gets arrested for beating 'em up, I'll pay for your defense". That was coupled with "you didn't see that at Bernie rallies. Well, you didn't see any of that at Hillary rallies, either. THAT is just not us.
And just in general, you're apt to find far more gunners on THAT side of the aisle than on ours. And aggressive gunners, too, who've heard all that crap about "they're coming to take yer guns" - and gullibly believe every word of it. WE'RE not the ones that worry authorities about OUR packin' heat into meetings and public events and out on the streets.
For me, sometimes, it boils down to the simplicity of parenting. We were just talking about that, this morning, at our house. What do parents and other responsible adults do, when they have an unruly tantrum-throwing child on their hands, or there's a nasty little bully terrorizing the playground at school? Do you feed the beast? Do you reinforce that crap? Do you encourage that acting-out? Do you reward that behavior? The answer is NO!!! You check that behavior. You stop it in its tracks. You try to nip it in the bud so it doesn't get worse. You teach and reinforce AGAINST it.
But if we don't do that, or we know we're not supposed to do that, with our kids, WHY do we do it with adults? WHY do we allow that shit? And we don't just allow it with adults, either. WHY do we shower the antisocial nasty narcissistic adult bully or meanie or proud in-yer-face asshole with money and fame and adulation? What kind of message does that send? What kind of message does that send, farther down the proverbial "food chain" from adult to child? All that does is reinforce BAD behavior, and encourage it to spread - and thrive.
When you feed the beast, guaranteed, it won't stop. It'll just get worse. And it certainly won't go away.

(5,017 posts)"Clearly, there is something wrong with Donald Trump and he is not fit to be president of the United States at a time when there is so much conflict and upheaval in the world." - What does the amount of conflict and upheaval have to do with it? The man is unfit to be president of the United States EVER!

(33,120 posts)Charles Krauthammer (A guy who, to be completely frank, gives me the sweating-shaking-like-a-hound-dog-trying-to-pass-a-peach-pit creeps) says something like this about Il Trumpenstupor. I take it seriously.
Although, I had said the same thing months ago.

(26,259 posts)I think he is too busy shilling a diet plan:
Fox News Contributor and New York Times bestselling author, Dr. Keith Ablow has teamed up with GOLO to help the millions of people who have struggled with their weight get a new lease on life.
Ive never endorsed a product before, says Dr. Ablow, But I was impressed by GOLOs sound nutrition and fitness principles that reduce belly fat, stabilize the metabolism and help reverse Insulin Resistance so that people can get back their health and vitality.

I also see a lot of the Dunning-Kruger effect and quite possibly hypomania. Both fit him to a T.
