Rubio: No abortions for Zika-infected women

http://www.politico.com/states/florida/story/2016/08/rubio-no-abortions-for-zika-infected-women-104555

Sen. Marco Rubio said Saturday that he doesn’t believe a pregnant woman infected with the Zika virus should have the right to an abortion — even if she had reason to believe the child would be born with severe microcephaly.
"I understand a lot of people disagree with my view – but I believe that all human life is worthy of protection of our laws. And when you present it in the context of Zika or any prenatal condition, it’s a difficult question and a hard one," Rubio told POLITICO.

All the horribly brain-damaged babies.
With no help from the government.

The small (but noisy) anti-abortion constituency of the GOP would run him through a meat grinder if he said anything else.

Most of these Republicans couldn't give two shits if a zika-infected woman had an abortion. They just don't have the balls to stand up to the pro-lifers.

Especially if the mother was a brown immigrant with little access to Cadillac healthcare?

Should the cost of taking care of the child exceed the mother's income and she would have no recourse but to "mooch off" the government without getting shamed for it?

Then you have my utmost respect, Senator.

So, from another angle, when I had miscarriages, my excessively religious relatives told me it wasn't "really" a baby.

The government did not let me take a child deduction when we filed out taxes, heck a full term intrapartum death did not merit acknowledgement with even a death certificate or from excessively religious relatives.

Clearly, excessively religious people and the government only care about fetuses when a woman wants to make a choice about her own body.

Shut up Marco.

Birth defects and cognitive issues cannot be diagnosed by ultrasound.
We should at least be able to solve the problem when it can be.
How many of these babies are you planning to adopt, Senator?

It's shocking that in the 21st century, we still have politicians in this country trying to take away our bedroom rights.
They just don't seem to understand our country's separation of church and state.
And for all the hatred they spew towards Islam, they sure do their best to emulate the most backward aspects of that religion, particularly towards women.

Perhaps women with Zika should say Marco Rubio is the father. Or perhaps Mike Pence. You know, Pence left Indiana with a nasty piece of anti-choice legislation that says women can't terminate a pregnancy because of congenital defects.

Oh sure, they could do a blood test to find out for sure if Pence or Rubio is the father, but wouldn't Pence or Rubio have to pay for that? Do you suppose the boys have special insurance for just this type of thing?

Just my thoughts on the matter, and they do run wild sometimes.
