Weve been hearing a lot about Ivanka Trump lately because her dad happens to be running for president.
Now, the progeny of the controversial GOP nominee is making waves on social media because of a recent purchase.
After Ivanka placed an order for the Helix Ear Cuff from indie jewelry brand Lady Grey, the brands cofounders Jill Martinelli and Sabine Le Guyader decided to take the opportunity to send a message while fulfilling the order.
They posted what they sent Ivanka on Instagram:
The handwritten note to Ivanka reads as follows:
Thank you so much for your web order! Were happy to let you know that the proceeds of your sale have been generously donated to the American Immigration Council, the Everytown for Gun Safety Organization, and the Hillary Clinton campaign. We hope you enjoy your new Lady Grey [Helix Ear Cuff].
Best,
Jill + Sabine

(14,449 posts)I doubt I'd want any letter from someone I purchased something from.

(90,641 posts)They like to establish a personal link for repeat business -- though the same applies for some much larger businesses who have employees tasked with writing personal thank you notes.
I think the ladies in this outfit don't care if Ivanka buys from them again -- they just wanted to send a message, much as the rest of us would like to do.

(380 posts)Or even the personalized note to Ivanka.
However, I am troubled by the fact that they made it public. They obviously don't respect their customers' privacy. That alone would make me hesitant to buy anything from them.
ETA: It also violates their own privacy policy.

Specifically (bolding mine):
SECTION 2 - CONSENT
How do you get my consent?
When you provide us with personal information to complete a transaction, verify your credit card, place an order, arrange for a delivery or return a purchase, we imply that you consent to our collecting it and using it for that specific reason only.
If we ask for your personal information for a secondary reason, like marketing, we will either ask you directly for your expressed consent, or provide you with an opportunity to say no.

(90,641 posts)Ivanka is Benedict Donald's right-hand girl (sic) and is currently having a fun vacay with Putin's girlfriend. She's up to her neck in Daddy's businesses.
Game on.

(380 posts)... it's not about Trump or Ivanka. It's about the store not protecting the rights to privacy of their customers. Ivanka Trump has just as much right to privacy about her purchases as you and I. The fact that this store chose to violate their own policies speaks about their characters.
