I am sure it was unintentional, but the verbiage seems to suggest "being gay" is a problem. Also, just because he believes G-d uses weather to punish gays, as indicated by his remarks, he seems to have a caveat.

It is offensive to suggest male homophobes are "secretly gay" as it is, IMO, doubly homophobic in that it releases heterosexuals, especially men, of being homophobes, and that homophobia is "really a gay problem." A very small percentage of homophobes are acting out of sublimated homosexual desires, most are nothing more than run-of-the-mill bigots!

If the guy is gay, his problem is condemning others and not living his own life. Obviously being gay is not a problem. If he isn't gay, then his religious teachings are flat out wrong and is a different problem.
