I still groan at W's transition team's effort to find a VP.

The transition team is critical for turning a successful campaign into an successful Presidency. And has nothing to do with policy, everything to do with the nitty-gritty of politics. The leader of this team has to know how things get done and who is really a power and who is not and then communicate to the entire incoming team about the way things work. And he or she also has to be ruthless enough to rein in ideologues who have great vision but no clue about politics.

Choosing anyone who is not a total pragmatic is a recipe for disaster.

This is a good move and will set the new administration up for success.

professional lobbyist for sure. There are less ethically challenged people who know the ropes, IMO.

Plus, speaking for myself, what kind of person would I be to vote for someone I didn't trust to fill a transition team slot competently? I do trust her to be sensible and competent, and if she's satisfied with him I am too. (She'd be so relieved to know that, of course.)

I'm just glad he isn't making policy.

And I'm really really REALLY hoping that Mark Udall will be appointed to Interior.
