When Trump Loses, What Will The Right Wing Call Themselves?

I noticed any time the republicans lose badly, they right wingers claim to be something new and that the republicans of old didn't represent them. In 2016, you hear these republicans claim that W was terrible and that they would never support his policies but of course they did. When they lose, they say that the republicans they voted for last time were full of shit but now they are the new republicans, the ones that will take charge. There were the "Reagan Republicans" but when people realized all the tax cuts did was run up the deficits and cause the middle class to go bankrupt, they all become the "religious right". Remember in 2004, when these republicans crawling all over the internet claimed that divine intervention was on their side? Remember how Shrub was the 2nd coming of Jesus? But then 2008 rolled around and they realized that sucking up to Bush wasn't going to win the election, so they all became "Mavericks", just like Palin claimed to be? Remember all over Fox News and the Free Republic, they were the maverick party that didn't play by the rules? Then when that shit went over like a lead balloon they became the "tea party"? Remember, debt was the ultimate evil. Oh we need to do anything but raise taxes and increase the debt?! Then when no one bought that shit, they became all about corporations and big business and talked about how Romney was going to run America like a business and that is what we needed? Then that asshole lost and they all said "he wasn't a real republican blah blah blah" and now they are all Trumpicans. Political correctness and Mexicans! That is what is ruining our country. Booooo poor immigrants. They have all the luck!

But when Trump loses and badly, what are they going to call themselves next? When they all sit around and claim that Trump wasn't their real candidate, just like Romney, and McCain, and Bush before him, what identity are they going to take on next? What dumb name are they going to call themselves in a year when they all say that Trump was a mistake and they knew it from the beginning, even though today they are all "rah rah Trump, you're our savior, I love you Donald!"?

when they claimed that Bush was the greatest president in history. Look how they throw him under the bus now. They are slimeballs. If you could go back in the past, you would see these same people screaming at democrats talking about how the iraq war was god's war. Now they say they never supported it. I have family members like that. Fucking spineless slugs.

That's why I throw W back in their faces....and Palin. But Trump is a whole other level of embarrassment. Especially after the coming electoral tsunami. Can't wait to start twisting that knife.

I'm not much of a handwringer but I remember in 2012 thinking "there is no way in 2016 they find someone worse than Romney. This guy is pure evil." Holy shit was I wrong. Romney is Lincoln, FDR, and Washington all rolled into one compared to Trump. I don't know how they can find someone worse than Trump but I've said such things before and have been shocked by the results.

Trump's changed his campaign management one last time.

If he isn't trending to substantially dig himself out of this hole in the next couple of weeks or so, it will be more than a month after the convention and the electorate is fairly well locked in on who they're going to support. Unless they've got something to kneecap Hillary with, he has to look at an exit strategy. He'll be forced to because the cutthroats in his party are pretty ruthless about clinging to power.

Trump may well say "You're telling me that if I drop out, you can save a lot of GOP seats in Congress. But my reputation is going to take a hit as a quitter. And me dropping out is the equivalent of $100 million in advertising for how it will boost your candidates chances. So clean up my campaign expenses, give me $50 mil to humiliate myself and I'll hit the bricks!" Kochs pony up the $50 mil, they parachute in Kasich who polls well against Hillary and we have a new contest.

There are a lot of members of the GOP who strike me as having little loyalty, no heart and are ruthless. I can't see them laying down, staying down and getting wiped out because of Trump.

I hope I'm wrong: his narcissistic ego won't let him quit and he goes down badly taking a bunch of the GOP with him. But as much as I'd like it, I can't trust that happening just yet.

To me, these ones are not material because they're red or blue states and there should be a way to sort that out (ie if a candidate died)
Delaware
New Jersey
South Dakota
West Virginia
- decent margin for error.

But these ones is where you have a point even though there are only four:
Michigan
Missouri
North Carolina
Ohio
because the GOP have never won the Oval Office without Ohio. The GOP must also win Missouri which is currently closer (ignoring the recent GOP biased poll) and North Carolina - a true battleground like Ohio. Missing the candidate name on the ballot could very well tip those states. It would also depend on which governor/party controls the ballots.

Kasich is Gov of OH and he could probably add his name.
OH, NC & MI have GOP governors, House & Senate.
GOP has both houses in MO. Only Dem Nixon as governor.

And then there's the legal mess of getting votes counted in those states where the candidate name cannot be replaced ....

I wouldn't say outright impossible but it sure looks daunting under the circumstances.

So yeah, they're very close to being pretty much stuck with the ignorant, racist pig as their flag bearer.

I can't think of a more apt term for republicans in congress than "nilla wafers".

They'll still be the extremist right no matter what they call themselves.

The East German regime was run by the "SED," or "Socialist Unity Party of Germany." When their world collapsed and their version of the Koch Brothers (the Soviet Union) couldn't fund their elitist lifestyles any more, they didn't just fade away. They just called themselves something else (Party of Democratic Socialism, to be exact). They were still the unapologetic bastards who proudly gave the orders for anyone trying to escape their little paradise to be shot at the border. Now, in their newest incarnation, they're just "Die Linken (the left)," but with little change in their real agenda (their official one has a kinder face).

So will it be if our Republicans decide to change their name, which I doubt anyway. The East German regime had Walter Ulbricht and Erich Honecker, two nasty operators, as their first leaders. The Republicans can still claim Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt before they turned sour. It's a legacy they can always point to, even if it's one they have, in reality, repudiated long ago.
