Another example of "all lives matter" thinking...

From my friend on Facebook - this happened in Arlington VA, a very diverse, and would like to think itself very forward thinking (they support trans students using the restroom and locker room of their choice) city. However....

My son & a bunch of other kids of color went to enjoy the County Fair tonight. They were told by parents to go to close by 7-11 in case of storm, etc to be picked up. The storm blew in like crazy w/lightening, wind and torrential rain. The kids ran to the 7-11 for cover as instructed. The 7-11 staff locked them out (it was open for business with customers inside). Apparently while hovering together under the 7-11 overhang to stay safe, the police told them to move away. To where? Back into the storm. Luckily their ride came soon. Tell me #All Lives Matter. This was absolutely a racial incident. I've been contacted by an elected official already and will be speaking more about it tomorrow.

Fortunately for those kids, my friend is a civil rights lawyer and activist.

about the name "Black Lives Matter". It couldn't be more obvious that there is an unwritten/unsaid "TOO" at the end of the moniker.

For so long in this country, black lives have been undeniably been devalued. The name of the organization reflects that fact.

I am not good at this sort of thing. But I would not want to buy things at a store that would do this.

First, we want to look into the possibility that there had been trouble with other kids earlier in the day, which may have led them to lock the door, but the police making kids wait in out in the thunder and lighting, and not even let them huddle under the over hang is not excusable.
