When was the progressive movement co-opted by pro-Putin apologists?

Even as bad as Ralph Nader could be, he never was in bed with Russian oligarchs like Jill Stein - and his supporters weren't in bed with men who seem to have an allegiance to Russia over America.

I'm confused as to when this happened? How could anyone look at Stein as a credible progressive voice when she dines with Putin - a homophobic, warmongering Russian oligarch?

As much as you may question Hillary Clinton, she's legit the only fucking candidate who doesn't seem to have any hard ties to Russia.

I'm absolutely baffled ANY progressive would even look at Stein's way. She's an awful human being - and an obvious Putin sympathizer. Isn't Putin REALLY the antithesis of everything liberals hold dear?

I feel like I'm in an alternate reality here.

People will trip over themselves to heap praise on anyone who stands up to US foreign policy, regardless of what they do at home.

and Salon's odd, overt obsession with all things Putin, apparently it's been going on a while.

Granted, neither of those represent the real world, but plenty of self-professed "progressives" seem to have hopped on the bandwagon.

Exactly what you see at JPR posters using same links and shit against Hillary that freakrepublic does...

Same reason you see some of the sovereign citizen shit from far left and far right, same reason Alex Douchebag Jones draws idiots from the far left and far right...It is the fringe, the easily duped, the ones that "think" they are in the know. But they are actually just fools.

help you get past your bafflement, but I don't want to violate the TOS.

That makes this a post that is just taking advantage of the DU echo chamber.

If you are honestly "baffled," you can easily google Stein's response in just seconds.

For the record, I hold these things dear:

1. peace
2. social justice
3. economic justice
4. environmental stewardship

Russia does not appear anywhere in the things I hold dear.

Also for the record, I am not making any comments about Stein at all, other than that you can obviously learn more, if you are baffled, with a quick search. If you really want to know. I'm also not making any remarks whatsoever about HRC.
