While I believe in capitlism and free markets, certain things like prisons and healthcare do not belong in the private sector.

at least the red states. They use prisons like "inmate hotels" and sell capacity back and forth among each other, shipping inmates around the country like some kind of perverse Trivago-prison rate chasing scheme.

Idaho has several prisons. They contracted one to CCA. CCA literally allowed the inmates to run the asylum, and it was so dangerous in there even CCA was calling it the Idaho Gladiator School. Finally the state threw CCA out and reestablished government control.

Letting the private sector run the commons always turns out bad.

caused the Justice Dept to make this decision, and some people will care about conditions revealed by lawsuits. And after a while there should be more sharp sticks in the hands of Democratic appointments to empty judicial seats...

This was on Hillary's to-do list also, so one down means more political points to expend elsewhere.
