"About 78 million robocalls on average occur nationally each day — and nearly 1.3 million of them are coming from Denver, according to a new report.

While Americans saw nearly a 7 percent decrease in the number of robocalls last month, according to the latest National Robocall Index by YouMail Inc., the number of calls originating in metro Denver has exploded.

There were 39.5 million robocalls placed from metro Denver last month, the bulk of them by Comenity Bank to collect credit-card debts, the report shows.

Although Denver ranked ninth among the cities where the most robocalls originated, its residents weren’t even among the top 20 cities to receive the most calls, the report shows.

That distinction remains with Atlanta’s 404 area code, whose residents got more than 43.7 million robocalls last month, followed by Houston’s 832 area code with 39 million."
