By JULIA JACOBO - Aug 19, 2016, 7:38 PM ET
One of the two girls accused of trying to sacrifice a 12-year-old classmate to a horror figure named Slender Man by stabbing her will enter a plea of insanity, according to her attorney.
Morgan Geyser, 14, who was also 12 at the time of the May 2014 stabbing, will plead not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect, her lawyer, Tony Cotton, said during a court appearance in a Waukesha County, Wisc. Friday. Cotton also requested a change of venue for the trial.
The other girl charged with attempted murder, 14-year-old Anissa Weier, who was also 12 at the time of the attack, also appeared in court.
Judge Michael Bohren appointed two doctors to conduct evaluations of the girls to be considered at the next court hearing on Oct. 13. Bohren said he anticipates setting a court date for March or April 2017.
