Not a bad game, but I very much fear it's going to penalties.

As we all know, Germany always win penalties.

There, I've jinxed them. No need to thank me.

Word is that Pele is not well and this was for him. That Neymar free kick was something else - nice match.

Although the games were a bit of a crap show, the Brazilians in general, by all accounts, were gracious and friendly hosts. It's nice for them to be able to leave the games on a high note, and I know this medal means a lot to them. Well done!

The media accommodations were a mess.... the plumbing didn't work... they were told not to drink the water. Many venues had technical difficulties major and minor (the green water was just one example), credential screening took forever. His general impression was "in over their heads."

He's reported on 7 games (both summer and winter). This was the second worst for him. Sochi was the worst. London was well done, as was Beijing, though he said the air quality in Beijing was awful.

OTOH, he said he was charmed by the people, whom he found to be very friendly, enthusiastic, and mostly helpful.
