Standing Rock Tribal Chairman Responds to North Dakota Governor’s Declaration of Emergency

http://lastrealindians.com/standing-rock-tribal-chairman-responds-to-north-dakota-governors-declaration-of-emergency/

I appreciate the pressure that Governor Dalrymple is working under. We are all feeling the tension created by the recent decision of the Corps of Engineers and Energy Transfer Partners to rush ahead with construction of the Dakota Access pipeline while important legal issues of tribal sovereignty and public health and safety remain unresolved.

Tribal leaders are committed to non-violence and peaceful prayer as the guiding principle of Cannon Ball River camps. We are doing everything in our power to promote that spirit. This is an opportunity to work together in a spirit of cooperation, and we should take advantage of that opportunity.

But with all due respect, the Governor’s declaration of emergency was unfortunate. I wish he had consulted with the tribe before making today’s declaration, because the tribe has its hand extended in the spirit of partnership and cooperation. We look upon this situation as an opportunity to work together.

Everyone needs to keep in mind that our families are the ones most affected by the Governor’s decision to close parks, blockade roads, and use the language of confrontation rather than cooperation. We are just as conscious of the need for public safety as the Governor, but we do not feel the need to cancel our concerts, or close our parks. In fact, now more than ever, we want people to come to Standing Rock and visit.

Just today, our Tribal Council voted unanimously that the roadblocks should be taken down. It is our mothers and fathers who are on the road this week as our children prepare for the opening of school. Our citizens rely on the roads to get from home to work. We are most harmed economically by shutting the last weeks of the tourist season.

What is happening at the Canon Ball Camp reflects a historic moment for the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. For the first time in 100 years we are hosting the reconvening of the Seven Council fires of the Oceti Sakowin. This attests to our commitment to working together for our children’s future.

I look forward to working with the Governor to remove the road blocks, reopen the parks and ensure the public safety.

and yesterday there was only one program on the radio that mentioned this travesty and that was Thom Hartmann, he had the Lakota Chairman Dave Archambault II , Standing Rock Sioux Tribe on the air to explain why, why this is happening, and this energy company with the help of this governor of lackeys and the Corp of Engineers, originally this was suppose to go into another town , which was 50 miles away and said that they were going to put this pollution carrying pipeline in and the town , the town being run by the typical small town said no, so they (the above lackeys ) thought lets go back to the Corp and the Energy company and this lackey Governor said will just go down to the Standing Rock tribe, screw them and put it across there land, withot talking to the Lakota tribe, to hell with sovereignty of there land, just screw , they are only Indians, who cares about stinking Indians-----------------well I care I'M part Indian (Cherokee-----------Ani-Yunwiya )

Igido & Iginvtli (Sisters & Brothers)

Lake Winnibigoshish in Minnesota, I think the Chippewa are going there, my brother is in the area, and is married to a great lady of Chippewa descent ..
They just don't see the "peaceful" rainbow warriors arriving on the door step to protect our water and land , they only see the greed and the typical Manifest Destiny and Doctrine of Discovery mentality, that is what is so amazing..

Do you remember when they had a movies coming out like: Little Big Man, A Man Called Horse, Billie Jack?

If anyone wants to help the Standing Rock Lakota, please go to the

Maybe it's because he's a GOPer, but I really think it's because he's full of good ol' white privilege (as pertaining to Native Americans). I'm from Virginia, but my mother's parents were very active with the Iroquois Nations - to the extent of being adopted by the Seneca tribe. I vividly recall visiting them as a child and meeting Iroquois elders & chiefs. What I most remember was them being dressed and just being like everyday people from upstate NY. That gave me an understanding of how Native Americans have been terribly mistreated since we white a*holes showed up here, even to today. We recently took two RV trips to the southwest and middle west, all the way to SF. I was really taken aback by the blatant hatred and dislike for Natives by whites out there. We stayed at two Navajo resort/campgrounds and I was amazed to find out how little water they were allowed while agribusinesses and Nestle just soak it up for their own profits. Roads and infrastructure going to reservation areas were pretty much left to decay by several states. Those reservations with casino revenue had up to date schools and many improvements from what I remember seeing way back in the late 60's when I traveled to CA. THEY WERE HERE BEFORE US! THIS IS THEIR LAND IF IT BELONGS TO ANYONE!

they are nothing more than lackeys of the Manifest Destiny and Doctrine of Discovery 2016 style.

But you can be damn sure, that if the Standing Rock people were doing anything illegal, they would make it on the "news", for the money. Lets not forget, that CBS and Les Mooves thinks that the many fraud herr drumpfster is great for making money for the shareholders and stakeholders.

They are hypocrites, I can still remember the stand-off at Pine Ridge: And in my opinion it is worse now-------another broken "promise"
