A few thoughts about "Play-doh" and Trump's photo op.

Back reference to this thread, which poked fun at the 49 second photo op of the Great Play-Doh Distribution with Donnie in a jacket with that stupid hat on his hair weave:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10028112119

Some people suggested there was good reason for Play Doh and went on to tell us why and chastise me for even bringing it up, citing snopes, and how we need to be better than that, how DJTrump was an actual good guy in this case, and yada yada yada.

Here's the thing. This is presidential campaign that will be dirtier than any one that any of us can remember. The other side has a truckload of lies, hate, and awful memes that they will be unloading in more than a 49 second photo op documented by actual video from the event.

Play-Doh, particularly in this context, is more the punch line to a joke than a commentary of the charitable largess of DJTrump. The very word "Play Doh" is funny sounding. But importantly, the event itself is based in actual, documentable fact. DJTrump went to Louisiana when the governor of same asked him not to show up. And he did NOTHING but stand there for 49 seconds and pass a few lightweight boxes to his veep candidate while camera's caught the joy - and orgasmic-duration - of it all.

Not making a joke of it on the internet is a wasted opportunity. An opportunity like so many others that Democrats often waste. We waste them because we think in factual terms. Which is good. it makes us what we are. But we also need to push back at EVERY opportunity.

Yeah, I know, there was a good use for Play Doh. Yeah, I know, the governor has changed his view and said the DJTrump visit was helpful.

Yada yada yada.

Had we done the Play Doh joke 49 seconds after it was caught on video, it would have had legs much stronger than the facts that came out in the aftermath.

Who remembers Dukakis' tank ride? The explanation didn't change a thing about the meme it generated.

Who remembers' Kerry dressed in a condom? The explanation didn't change a thing about the meme it generated.

Who remembers Hastert and Idiot Son in ill fitting lab coats and silly safety glasses? The explanation didn't change a thing about the meme it generated.

Arguably the tank was Dukakis' undoing. Arguably the condom suit helped the right wing push the meme that Kerry was a patrician who didn't earn his medals.

We can't let these things go by.

Just be prepared for pushback. When Democrats look silly - even for a good reason - it sticks. When a Republican looks silly, it doesn't, for the most part. Nobody knows why that is in our land dominated by the librul media.

If you want to make hay out of Trump looking like a particularly sourpussed dork, go for it.

"OoooOOOOooo. We can't do that. It isn't exactly factual" <with appropriate clutching of pearls>

Democrats need to be tougher. More . . . . . well . . . . . mean to those who seek to destroy us.

I saw a headline this morning about Kirstie Alley tweeting criticism of Obama for failing to be at the scene of the flooding disasters in Louisiana and playing golf during his annual summer vacation instead.

Alley is either ignorant of or deliberately omitting Louisiana governor John Bel Edwards' request for Obama to remain at bay until the flood rescue effort is officially declared a recovery mission.

Although Edwards is not helping matters by now going on the record describing Trump's visit as "helpful" despite warning Trump not to stop by for a photo op during a hectic period of clean up and distributing aid.

Her influence with the voting public is reflected in the state of her career in entertainment: it's non-existent.

As you pointed out, True Dough, her partisanship is exposed by her omission that Governor Bel Edwards asked both candidates to stay away. The Governor is being polite when he commented that Donald Trump's visit was "helpful" but he certainly wasn't happy about him parachuting into town, taking pictures and leaving. Neither were the aid workers:

Think of it this way: Mr. Trump said that he would have the biggest names supporting him. Does he really think that Scott Baio and Kirstie Alley are still "big?

Like Ms. Alley, he's an idiot, too.

Plus a Trump mixup sent the wrong truck to Louisiana, that truck was supposed to go to the border.
