7. Was there no septic system?

I'm not able to play the video where I'm at now.

So if there was a septic system, then I trust you have no larger objections to being (safely) off-grid ?

2. Why the hell did he do this within city limits

where you are required to hook up to water and sewer? Stupid, stupid, stupid. Do it out on county land, where you can lay in a septic leech field. Hard to have sympathy for someone who didn't read the rules. City water and sewer are there as a public health measure. Good job with the electric and rain collection systems.

As far as I know every municipality requires all residents to be hooked up to city water and sewer. How can anyone not be aware of that? I'm all for living off the grid, but you have to do it out in the county.

6. You buy in the city you live by city rules

That's how things work.

This case has been posted all over right wing sites about outrageous big government oppression, but it's really just a tale of a moron who thought the laws in the city didn't apply to him.

And automatic we shouldn't have to pay a monthly fee it should be paid for in our taxes. Cut out the middle man corporate profiteers and allow people to live as They see fit.

He should be connected to sewer living in city limits but that should be automatic for all living in the city and covered in the city taxes.

Water should be based on usage of he's not using water than he shouldn't be charged.

What is wrong is having to pay a base fee just to be hooked up if being hooked up is required.

They keep people running to pay bills using their life pursuing money to give to some one else to make that person rich. Its wrong the wealthy are using our resources to exploit is. It is greed that feeds the fat cats.

"they say our house is a trailer which is not allowed in city limits"

So, he got no permit for anything that he has done. He could not get a permit because what is clearly a trailer is not allowed on that property because of where it is. Everything he has done since setting that trailer is illegal, he would not be able to hook up to city services because of that. To make his case seem to be something it is not he is attempting to get support from people who live off grid.

He had an area that was not zoned for trailers, so that basis alone he lost his appeal.

Also, according to another article, he was sited for not having a septic system. I would be fine with off grid, but where is everything going if there is no septic?

11. I wonder why he chose to set up on a piece of property within city limits?

Maybe it was given to him or he got it very cheaply? I have no problem with how he's living. My husband and I lived similarly for thirty years. Saved a lot of money for our retirement that way. Not a thing in the world wrong with it. Best years of our life! But you do have to comply with the local rules. We checked them out beforehand. It's not hard to do.

Edited to add ... we DID have a septic system!!!!!!

Granted, he's probably in violation of zoning ordinances, but that's not what he said. He said they he's being cited for not being connected to city utilities. Maybe semantics.

We don't know what his septic situation is. Composting toilets? Recycled gray water?

Some unanswered questions, but I can understand s bit where he's coming from.

** quickly hides camo hat **

Owning a four wheel drive and a camo hat tells you a lot about someone does it?

What if I have .. of coarse a big what ... a *gasp* camo jacket? Or pants?

Holy hell, I own a four wheel drive truck as well. And, a four wheeler, bass boat, fishing pole, shotgun, and all sorts of other sporting gear.

Guess I should switch parties, certainly seems the more I read on this site democrats certainly do not like blue collar people who hunt and fish. Guess I am just to fucking stupid to know better.
