Fourth grader suspended for bringing his 'one ring' to school

ODESSA, TX --
A fourth grade boy in Odessa, Texas has been suspended from school for making a terroristic threat. He told another boy that he had a magic ring and could make him disappear.

The boy's father, Jason Steward, tells the New York Daily News that he took his son to see "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" last weekend. He says his son brought a ring to class at Kermit Elementary School and acted out a scene from the movie, telling another boy his magic ring could make the boy disappear.

The principal was called and immediately suspended the nine-year-old, the Odessa American reports, saying threats to another child's safety would not be tolerated - whether they are magical or not.

The principal now says she can't comment on the matter because quote, "All student stuff is confidential."

Steward says the principal sent the boy for making a terroristic threat with a magic ring. Steward told her his son lacked the magical powers necessary to threaten his friend's existence, but even if he had those powers, he's sure his son would bring his friend right back.

they want to create a clear view of the school to stop any threatening person. Not that an admin. is looking out the window for such a person all day...

This is in a small N. England town where the biggest thing in a decade was a driver running into a tree on the town green.

This principal either just has a grudge against this kid, or she's completely off her rocker. Maybe both.

The principal is a monster, who magically appears, to punish children for doing imaginary stuff they saw in a movie. If the child is wrong; so was the influential movie.

BTW, the reprint of this "old article" is dated Tuesday, February 03, 2015, according to the link.

My local library had a promotion for a children's reading program and two private schools in
my area wouldn't accept the promotion materials because they didn't include a specific reading list.

That think even Lord of the Rings is some Satanic cult. Despite Tolkien being a devout Catholic. and being friends with prominent fellow author and Christian C. S. Lewis. For one, Catholics are not true Christians, in their minds, because they worship idols and bestow a man (the Pope) with godlike status.

For another, any written fantasy is blaspheme and to be feared and avoided. (Well other than the many 'miracles' that happen in the Bible).

All over this county.

Be it a ring, a clock, a pop tart bitten off to look like a gun shape or a deaf kid whose name was Hunter so the sign for his name is like a finger gun- teachers and administrators have lost their mind.

They refuse to exercise any common sense or act like authority figures, instead deferring to mindless "policy" that they create and then blame while unthinking following. And in most cases they call the cops to deal with what should be minor classroom disciplined issues because they are incapable or unwilling to do it.

just for being different, and our dear educators and administrators in Texas of course have a divine obligation to defend Christianity
