and many are still missing? Buildings are still crumbling from aftershocks.

The house was built in the 14th Century, as were most of the homes in the historic center of town.
They would not stand up well to an earthquake.

I also hope earthquakes are taken into account when the villages that were destroyed this time are rebuilt. They will be rebuilt, there is something in the Italian character that is very attached to places. See: the area around Vesuvius.

(918 posts)and a month didn't go by without feeling tremors in Lima.
You could see the chronology of building codes and technologies in the areas hit by even small quakes.
Newer homes built to seismic standards still standing, others reduced to rubble.
