http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/iowa-teen-tennis-star-plea-deal-sex-assault-article-1.2751682An Iowa high school tennis star who was accused of the felony sex assault of a mentally ill woman recently secured a plea deal for a lesser charge and might walk away with probation.
Nicholas Fifield, an 18-year-old graduate of Valley High School, was charged with third-degree sex abuse of a person suffering from a mental defect or incapacity, which precludes giving consent. Under Iowa law, he faced 10 years in prison. His trial was set to start Wednesday.
But Fifield will skip the trial altogether after entering an Alford plea a deal in which he admits no guilt, but says the prosecution had enough evidence to convict him. Under the plea deal, he only faces the lesser charge of assault with intent to commit serious injury, according to the Des Moines Register.
The teen tennis star will be sentenced Oct. 12 after a mental evaluation, and might only be punished with probation.

Note: This is not a repost of a similar story from earlier this week. That one was from Massachusetts. So two high school jocks got off scot-free for rape in the same week!! ;banghead:

When it comes to the value our culture gives athletics. Seems like athletes can damn near get away with murder these days.

It is simply appalling. He got permission from the group home to take her to the movies. He actually took her to his home and forced her to have sex.
