‘This neighborhood does not need any blacks in it’: Racist letter shocks Kansas family

http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/%e2%80%98this-neighborhood-does-not-need-any-blacks-in-it%e2%80%99-racist-letter-shocks-kansas-family/ar-BBw2kaH

A Kansas grandmother said she is worried about her biracial grandchildren after she received a racist letter saying they were not welcome in the community.

Nancy Wirths, 49, told NBC affiliate KSNW that she pulled an anonymous note from her mailbox Monday in northern Wichita from someone who claimed to be a disgruntled neighbor forced to flee his home.

“My wife and I have lived in this area for many a year,” it read. “We have noticed that there are some black children at your residence. Maybe you are running a daycare or these are your children. In either case, we have put our house for sale.”

“This neighborhood does not need any blacks in it,” the letter said. “There is a reason for the saying, ‘The other side of the tracks.’ That is where these people belong. You have done a great disrespect in this neighborhood by not thinking of your neighbors.”

Gosh, I love our post-racial society!

Would someone please notify Chief Justice Roberts? He seems to be under the impression that racial discrimination and bigotry is a long-gone relic of the distant past. No, Mr. Roberts; this is alive and well and living in Wichita, Kansas (among many, many other places).

Then all the neighbors got together to buy it so our blackness would not pollute their block

I think it's important to repeat the deleted message to provide evidence so that people don't do the "Well, I've never seen any racist stalking of DU members" thing. This is nothing new. I admire you and everybody else who has to continually deal with it.

"Can't say I blame them. If the negativity your 'blackness' has brought to this forum is anything like the negativity it would bring to their neighborhood, I totally understand their concerns. All blacks do is spread negativity wherever they go and ruin everything they touch."

and recently put their house up for sale.

Just look on Zillow for the immediate neighborhood and check the dates of houses recently put on the market.

I actually thought we were well on our way of erasing racism out of our society until President Obama. When we elected him the racist aholes started coming out of the wood work like termites and wood bees

The three votes I cast for Obama are the votes this old man is the most proud of. In my opinion he is hands down the best President we've had in my 68 years.
Just thinking about our President and First Family puts me way up there on cloud nine

When my uncle sent my cousins to private schools after integration began, my mother refused, saying, "Our kids will live in an integrated society. They need to know how to get along with everyone." Even though Mom grew up in a very segregated Alabama she always worked hard not to let the bias she had been taught as a child control her dealings with other people. Yes, she is prejudiced but she tries to not be.

Not long after I married my black wife, my mother who lived down the street was on her evening walk in the neighborhood overheard the neighbor telling another neighbor that "That damn lawyer married a nigger and moved her accross the street from us."

To give you an idea of how bad racists are, they have called the cops and every city inspector etc., to come harass me ever since. The rest of my neighbors are all very nice and sickened by this couple. When a black family moved next door to this couple my wife and I gave them a heads up, especially since they have young children. We all now go out of our way to make them uncomfortable. Kind of childish, but I will not allow them to get away with their harassment unscathed.

Oh, and not surprising, they are Republicans!
